Our History
Since 2012, PVD CAP has helped Providence residents access services, resources, and support. Our work helps residents meet essential needs, build stability, and move toward self-sufficiency.
Serving Providence Since 2012.
PVD CAP began serving Providence in November 2012. The agency operates, promotes, and supports human service programs that improve the lives of low-to-moderate income individuals and families across Providence.
From the beginning, PVD CAP has focused on meeting immediate needs while helping residents move toward long-term self-sufficiency. Over time, PVD CAP has grown into a trusted provider of social services. Today, residents can access programs that support food assistance, heating support, home energy efficiency, tax preparation, education, workforce readiness, family stability, and community resources.

PVD CAP is established
PVD CAP began serving Providence residents through programs focused on stability, opportunity, and poverty reduction.
Expanding Services
Meeting essential needs
As community needs grew, PVD CAP expanded access to services that help residents with food, heating costs, home safety, financial stability, and family support.
Building Partnerships
Working together for greater impact
PVD CAP works with community partners, funders, schools, agencies, volunteers, and local organizations. Together, these partnerships strengthen the safety net for Providence residents.

A connected network of support
Today, PVD CAP provides programs and services that help individuals and families meet immediate needs. These services also help residents navigate challenges, build pathways, and move toward long-term stability.
Part of a larger Community Action movement.
PVD CAP’s work is rooted in the Community Action model. This model brings local organizations, public resources, and community partnerships together to address poverty and improve quality of life.
This approach recognizes that every household has different needs. Because of that, PVD CAP offers programs, referrals, and support that meet residents where they are. Then, our team helps them move toward where they want to be.
